Tis The Season To Give - Thanks

Let’s put this spin on the holiday season this year.  Let’s say Thanksgiving is the beginning of the season to be more thankful for all we have, and maybe even for what we do not have.

Instead of letting all the unavoidable running around shopping, attending parties, visiting relatives and so on; get to us, let’s be thankful we are able to do that.

If you find being thankful a challenge, I suggest doing what I do.  Each day before my feet even hit the floor I think of at least 3 things specifically from the day before for which I am thankful.  Then try to carry that theme throughout your day with an eye out for things for which you can be thankful.

Sometimes it is good to even be thankful for certain set-backs and painful experiences that come our way.  These are opportunities for us to learn and grow.

Here’s some of the things for which I’m very thankful:

  • For my large family that generally gets along very well outside election years and are some of the most fun and loving people you would ever want to meet. I am truly blessed in this area.
  • I’m thankful for my friends, most of whom I’ve known since high school. Though we’ve changed a lot over the years, we’re still the same immature joking people when we get together.  We love to laugh.
  • I’m thankful for having had the opportunity to own my business for a long time now and that it has provided the means to take care of my family so they are out of school and have their own successful careers.
  • I’m thankful for still living in Belmont. I love this area.
  • Of course I’m thankful for our customers who have helped us achieve success.
  • I’m thankful for having a great employee like Lori Lake. She makes the job go so much smoother, especially catching all my mistakes.
  • There are so many other things which we take for granted but truly are blessings. Living in a country where for most people water, food and shelter are easily available.
  • I’m thankful for my health, for living in the great city of Nashville, etc.
  • Very thankful for my two dogs who are great companions. Shout out to Webb and Gracie.
  • I’m thankful for forgiveness.
  • And I’m very thankful for discovering years ago that reading just a little of the Bible every day is a great way to grow as a Christian and become a kinder, less judgmental, loving and peaceful person.
  • I am thankful for my Catholic faith too, though I do not think it’s the only religion that counts. I hope you are thankful for whatever faith you practice.

I really could go on, but you get the point.  Here’s to a Happy and Thankful Holiday Season to all!
