Before you start jumping to conclusions let me clarify that this was strictly a business trip. I believe there are some great opportunities supplying swag to the cannabis industry. I also believe legalizing cannabis creates a great tax base that could help schools, etc. Confirmation came when I saw a competitor actually had a booth at the show. Besides that I do have a love for learning and this was a great opportunity to do so.
And I will have to start by saying I was amazed at how professional this conference was! It wasn’t a bunch of stoned Rasta men, not at all.
It was held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas August 23-26.
Let me just jump right to some of what I learned:
· There are professionals such as attorneys, financial companies, accountants and others going after this business.
· Some things are tough for cannabis companies as it is still not legal on a federal level.
· Most…I assume all…cannot accept credit cards. The credit card companies stay away since it is not legal on a federal level.
· The technology and science behind helping these businesses grow the best plants is top-notch.
· I even came across a company that shows growers how to get tax credits by using the right energy-saving lighting systems.
· They even provided lunch on the house the first day. Not seen that at a trade show before.
· I did see a cool product that eliminates the odor of weed, whether smoked or unsmoked.
· The only complaint I heard was from a exhibitor who said attendance was low this year and likely due to Covid.
I thought it was so good I might even have my own booth next year!
Here are some photos from the show to give you a better idea what it was like.
